How do I apply for the program?

Are there fellowships and or financial aid available?

Please fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student 援助) and contact the JU Financial 援助 office for details. All candidates applying for a fellowship, financial aid, and/or student loans must 完成 FAFSA form, available online. The recommended date of completion is March 1. More information about scholarships is available from Financial 援助.

I have had some graduate work in the past. Can I transfer in credits?

No, all of the course work in the curriculum has to be taken by all of the students. This is a lock-step program.

When I submit my portfolio CD or DVD, should I submit one significant work, or a sample of different bodies of work showing progression over time?

If you have one body of work that really represents your artistic skill set and voice, it will be acceptable to submit that. A sample of several works is preferred as it may show more diversity in your skill sets allowing reviewers more insight into your desired focus. The CD of digital images should not exceed 20 and/or the DVD should be no longer than 12 minutes. In either case, CD or DVD, each work should be labeled.

Will we work on weekends during the summer intensive?

Students will always have Sunday off and will occasionally work half-days on Saturdays.

What does a typical day look like during the summer residency?

Students will be in classes all day from 9am to 4pm with a break for lunch.

Is there housing available during the summer semester?

是的. On campus apartments are available to graduate students. The apartments have full kitchens and living rooms and are shared with other graduate students.

When would my ‘one-week campus residency’ be held?

Each student will schedule a week of his or her choice in the Fall or Spring semester working with the MFA Pedagogy Professor on scheduling. The week could be Monday-Friday, or over a weekend time frame.

What will I do during the 1-week residency?

研究生 candidates will be enrolled in the Pedagogy course and will work with the professor on designing a personal week with JU Undergraduate visual art students, teaching classes and/or facilitating group projects with the JU Undergraduates.

Is housing provided during the one week pedagogy residencies, or do I need to find my own housing?

Housing and meals for the residencies is covered in your tuition. There is no tuition reimbursement for unused housing or meals.

How are the Fall and Spring courses taught?

These classes are taught on-line by professors in the program.
